1st Seminar of Training and Research for the Future FRIENDS OF THE WORLD TREASURES

Padova and Rivamonte Agordino, May 19-29. 1993

It is possible to say, with Brecht, that "their names are not written into books". An abandoned village, a ritual dance, a closed factory, a wilderness area, these all are "world treasures" that still preserve a living cultural and human value.

Discovering this value, being conscious of it, giving it a new vitality, means to perform an educational implementation far beyond the mere restoration of the object.

Becoming a Friend of the World Treasures means joining a cultural programme which aim is to make the world we live in more civilized and richer, because of the source of nourishment that the past brings.

Because of these aspects, the FWT network of the World Federation of UNESCO Clubs, Centres and Associations (WFUCA) is one of the meaningful in the frame of the "World Decade of Cultural Development" promulgate by UNESCO in 1988.

The WFUCA has chosen Padova for the first seminar of FWT, recognizing this way the achievements over the last two years of the local UNESCO Club.
